DREAM MAKER • Don’t Dream It’s Over – 10/18/26

A dream from God doesn’t mean the journey will be easy. Dreams come with challenges, disappointments, pain, and sacrifice. But Romans 8:28 reminds us that God can work through our pain and injustice to accomplish good. Joseph’s life teaches us that even when we go from the pit to slavery to prison, God is still at work. Instead of asking, “Why me?” ask, “God, what’s next?”

Through betrayal, false accusations, and forgotten promises, Joseph kept trusting God. Scripture repeatedly reminds us, “The Lord was with Joseph.” What looked like wasted years were actually years of preparation. God was building Joseph’s character and sharpening his leadership. The waiting isn’t wasted when you keep walking with God.

Joseph’s brothers allowed envy and jealousy to control them. They focused on what Joseph had instead of recognizing what God had given them. Envy starts ugly and ends ugly. When we compare ourselves to others, we can become resentful and eventually hurt the very people we should love. The answer is to take our eyes off others and focus on how much God loves us.

We’re quick to remember who has betrayed us, but often slow to recognize when we’ve betrayed others. Joseph’s brothers tried to bury their guilt, but eventually they had to face their sin. We can blame others and justify our actions, but that only makes the pit deeper. You can’t find freedom by continuing to live a lie.

How do we get FREED? Face the truth. Realize you’re in a pit. Elevate your eyes to God. Execute a plan to make things right. And bow down before God, laying it all at His feet. Psalm 51 reminds us that God is full of mercy and compassion. Don’t wait another day to deal with what God is bringing to your attention. Stop justifying, start confessing, and take the step toward freedom that God is calling you to take

Scriptures— Romans 8:38 (NLT); Genesis 39:21, 41:8, 12-13, 16, 42:1-2 (NLT); Numbers 32:23 (NIV); Genesis 42:10-11, 13, 21 (NLT); Psalm 51:1-3 (NLT)

Verses— We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose. (Ro 8:28) But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. (Ge 39:21)

Questions – When have you faced a difficult season that didn’t make sense at the time? How did God use that experience to grow you? What helps you keep trusting God when your dream seems delayed? Why do we focus on what others have instead of recognizing what God has given us? How can focusing on God’s love for us help us overcome envy? Is there a situation where you need to take responsibility for your actions?

Prayer – Lord, help me trust You in the difficult seasons and keep my eyes on Your love instead of comparing myself to others. Give me courage to face my sin, stop making excuses, and make things right. Thank You for Your mercy, forgiveness, and the freedom I find when I bring it all to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
