THE MIX • Mix and Match – 6/28/26

As followers of Jesus Christ, it is essential that we get The Mix right! We’ve explored the Golden Rule, the power of love, accepting and serving others, and inspiring the people around us. If every Christ follower truly lived these things out, it would impact our neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, and communities. Today we’re adding one more essential ingredient to the mix, and it’s not optional—sharing the Good News of Jesus with others.

Every time we stand at a gravesite, we are reminded of how fragile life is and how brief our time here can be. The most important thing, without exception, is a relationship with Jesus Christ. That’s why our mission is to lead people into a growing relationship with Him. Life is short, eternity is real, and there is no higher calling than sharing the hope of Jesus whenever God gives the opportunity.

Jesus came to seek and save those who are lost, and before returning to heaven He instructed His followers to go and share the good news. The Apostle Paul embraced that mission with everything he had. Even while in prison, his greatest desire was not comfort or freedom, but more opportunities to tell people about Christ. When you truly grasp the importance of knowing Jesus and realize the magnitude of eternity with or without Him, then sharing the good news becomes one of the most important priorities of your life.

The story of the four lepers in Samaria illustrates this perfectly. Samaria is under siege and people are starving. The lepers decide to walk toward the enemy camp and beg for mercy. After discovering the enemy camp abandoned and filled with food and supplies, they feast and horde supplies but soon realize it would be wrong to keep the good news to themselves while others are starving. In the same way, when you’ve experienced the grace, hope, and salvation found in Christ, you want others to experience it too. The greatest gift you can give someone is introducing them to a God who loves them and can change their life forever.

So pray for opportunities, pay attention to the people God places in your path, and intentionally build relationships with those who need hope. You don’t need all the answers. Share your story, invite people to church, and tell them what Jesus has done in your life. God can use simple conversations to transform lives, restore families, and impact eternity. Let’s get the mix right by living out our faith and boldly sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.

Scriptures— Luke 19:10 (NLT); Mark 16:15 (NRSV); Colossians 4:3-4 (NIV); Philippians 1:21 (NIV); 2 Kings 7:5-7, 9 (NLT); John 3:16 (NIV); Titus 3:5-7 (CEV)

Verses— “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” (Lk 19:10) And he said to them, Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.” (Mk 16:15)

Questions— How does the brevity of life and the reality of eternity shape your priorities? How should it affect the way you live each day? What emotions or challenges do you experience when you think about sharing your faith with others? The four lepers realized it wasn’t right to keep the good news to themselves. In what ways can Christians today be tempted to keep the good news of Jesus to themselves? Who are the people in your current sphere of influence—family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, or classmates—who may need to hear about God’s love? What steps can you take to share the good news of Jesus with them?

Prayer— Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love, grace, and the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Help me remember that life is short and that the people around me matter deeply to You. Give me eyes to see opportunities, a heart that cares for others, and courage to share the hope I have in You. Use my words, actions, and stories to point people toward Jesus. May I live with eternity in mind and be faithful to the mission You have given me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
