SHADES • Omni Vision – 4/13/25
Life can be incredibly challenging, and we often feel overwhelmed by personal struggles, relationship issues, poor decisions, or even sins that consume you. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” Life is full of disappointments and problems, but with hope, you can navigate the trials and challenges. When hope seems distant, fix your eyes on the hope you have in Jesus Christ and God’s many promises.
God is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, and omnibenevolent. He knows everything, is always with you, has unlimited power and resources, and wants the best for you. When you experience a crisis and feel defeated, the temptation is to panic and try to run from your problems. It’s reassuring to know that God is never changing, a rock, a fortress, steady. Focus and lean on him for stability.
Don’t give in to self-pity. Look to God for salvation. Pour out your heart to God in prayer. When life gets unhinged, focus your thoughts on God. Self-pity will get you nowhere.
Instead of giving in to pessimism, get a new view. Psalm 62:11-12 (CEV) says, “I heard God say two things: ‘I am powerful, and I am very kind.'” These two statements from God give hope. First, God is strong. No problem is too big because God is omnipotent and has unlimited power and resources. Second, God is loving. God is omnibenevolent, is good, and wants the best for you.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God has a plan and states for the record that His plan for you is good!
The best advice is to stop and listen to God. Allow Him to speak to you, guide you, and give you direction. God doesn’t often scream to get your attention or write the answer across the sky. God usually speaks in a whisper, so you must be quiet and listen to hear.
Hope is possible because our God is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, and omnibenevolent. God wants to be your fortress, give you stability, victory, and direction. Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV) says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Without hope, there is no faith.
Scriptures – Psalm 62:1-2 (NRSVUE), 5 (NIV), 7-8 (ESV), 11-12 (CEV); Jonah 2:7 (LB); Matthew 19:26 (NLT); Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV); Psalm 46:10 (NLT); Psalm 42:5-6, 8 (NLT); Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)
Verses – Find rest, O my soul, in God alone. My hope comes from him. (Ps 62:5)
Questions – How do you incorporate daily practices to focus on God and His promises? How can you avoid the temptation to panic and run from your problems? What are some examples of God’s strength and kindness in your life? In what ways can you trust in God’s plan for your life, even when things seem uncertain?
Prayer – Dear God, Thank You for being our fortress, giving us stability, victory, and direction. We hold on to Your promises and pray expectantly, knowing that with You, all things are possible. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
