Today, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who came to defeat the power of sin and death, making a relationship with God possible. This not only secures our eternal destination but also changes our lives, making all things new. Jesus provides clarity to our decisions and gives us a vision for living.

Jesus made a statement about vision in Matthew 6:22, saying, “Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light.” He was talking about spiritual insight, seeing things through God’s eyes. However, when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness, leading to decisions based on things that are not true.

Satan uses these lies and distortions on his mission to kill, steal, and destroy. Proverbs 23:7 says, “As one thinks in their heart, so they become.” If you see yourself as a loser, victim, or failure, you will become that. The lenses you look through determine what you see, and beliefs determine behavior.

When you pursue a personal relationship with God, you begin to see things clearly through God’s eyes. The Apostle Paul talks about this in Ephesians 1:18, praying that hearts will be flooded with light to see the future God has called us to share. God sees us very differently than we see ourselves, and through God’s lenses, we are accepted, valued, loved, forgiven and capable.

God’s love is consistent and unconditional, never requiring us to meet some standard to be loved. When we accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, we are no longer condemned. We are seen by God through the lens of Jesus blood, and it covers all our sin, and makes us righteous.

When God looks at us, He sees us as forgivable and capable, with the capacity to do great work through His strength and guidance. By focusing on the truth and affirming God’s word, we can break free from the negative influences and see ourselves through God’s eyes, and that makes all the difference.

Scriptures – Matthew 6:22-23 (NLT); Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV); Ephesians 1:18-20 (TLB); John 8:31-32 (NLT); Titus 3:7 9 (CEV); Luke 12:24 (NLV) 1 Corinthians 7:23 (TLB); John 3:16 (NKJV); Isaiah 54:10 (GNT); Ephesians 1:4 (NLT); Romans 8:1-2 (NIV); 2 Corinthians 3:5 (GNT); 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (TLV); Philippian 4:13 (AMPC)

Verses – “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (Jn 3:16) Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. (Ep 1:4)

Questions – How does the resurrection of Jesus impact your daily life and decisions? How can self-deception affect your perception of yourself? How does pursuing a personal relationship with God change the way you see yourself and your future? Consider Matthew 6:22-23. How is your eye like a lamp providing light for your body? Discuss the meaning of verse 23: …if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is! What practical steps can you take to see yourself through God’s lenses?

Prayer – Heavenly Father, thank You for the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who defeated sin and death, making a relationship with You possible. Help me to see clearly through Your eyes and make decisions based on Your truth. Flood my heart with light to see the future You have planned for me. Help me to live with confidence knowing I am accepted, valued, loved, forgiven and capable in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
