Paper Tigers• Year of the Tiger – 07/26/26
Life is filled with decisions, and some are more difficult than others. Whether we are choosing a new direction, facing an unexpected challenge, or simply seeking God’s will in our daily lives, the Lord promises that His wisdom is available to those who seek Him.
Proverbs 24:14 compares wisdom to honey—sweet, nourishing, and life-giving. God’s wisdom is more than knowledge; it is His guidance for every step we take. When we trust Him instead of leaning on our own understanding, He faithfully directs our paths. We may not always see the entire journey, but God gives us enough light for the next step. His wisdom replaces confusion with confidence and fear with faith.
The promise at the end of Proverbs 24:14 is one every believer can hold onto: “There shall be a reward, and your expectation shall not be cut off.” When we choose God’s wisdom over our own impulses, we can trust that He is working for our good, even when the outcome is not immediately visible. James reminds us that if we lack wisdom, we need only ask God, who gives generously. As we seek Him through His Word, listen to the Holy Spirit, and allow His peace to guide our hearts, we can move forward with confidence. Difficult decisions become opportunities to grow in faith, knowing that the God who leads us is also the God who rewards faithful obedience.
Scriptures: Proverbs 24:14, Proverbs 3:5-6, Psalm 119:105, Isaiah 41:10, James 1:5, Colossians 3:15, Proverbs 11:14, Romans 8:14, Galatians 6:9, Isaiah 55:8-9.
Verses: Wisdom is good for the soul. If you get wisdom, you’ll have a bright and secure future. Proverbs 24:14
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do and he will show you which path to take (Proverbs 3:5-6). If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking (James 1:5).
Questions: What decision am I currently facing that I need to surrender completely to God’s wisdom? Am I relying more on my own understanding or trusting the Lord to direct my path? How have I seen God’s wisdom and faithfulness guide me through difficult decisions in the past? What practical step can I take today to seek God’s wisdom through prayer, Scripture, and the leading of the Holy Spirit?
Prayer: Thank You Father for Your Word and that in You, I can find wisdom for every situation. Guide me into truth and help me to trust in Your wisdom even when I think I have it all figured out. On days when I don’t know where to turn, remind me that You are there and know exactly what I’m facing and have the answers that I need. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
