MISSION: POSSIBLE • Sabotage – 5/18/25
Understanding God’s call is crucial for every individual. We are all created with a unique purpose, and recognizing this divine mission is the first step towards fulfilling it. Although the journey may seem daunting, faith in God’s plan makes it achievable. With God nothing is impossible.
The influence of others, THEY, plays a significant role in our lives. The opinions and actions of those around us can sway our decisions and impact our journey. It is essential to make the right choices regarding the company we keep. The right associations will uplift and motivate us and point us toward God, while the wrong THEY can lead us away from our purpose. If you don’t want to be who God created you to be, hang out with and listen to the wrong THEY.
Samson is a Biblical example of one who listened to the wrong THEY. Samson had a divine mission, gift and purpose, but he was influenced by the wrong voices which led to his downfall. In contrast, Nehemiah surrounded himself with supportive individuals. He accepted God’s mission to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem and didn’t allow the nay sayers to detour him from his purpose. As a result, he achieved great success.
Building something significant requires alignment with God’s vision. We are all building something, therefore, our efforts should be directed towards fulfilling God’s purpose and not for personal gain or the approval of others. The way we work, recreate, handle relationships, and absolutely everything is part of our worship. Nurturing the right relationships keeps us on the right path.
Challenges and opposition will come. However, they also affirm that we are heading in the right direction!
Ask yourself these questions regarding your relationships to determine if you are listening to the right THEY.
1) Do they motivate you to love God more? 2) Do they celebrate God’s blessings in your life? 3) Do they have your back when opposition comes. 4) Do they hold you accountable out of love and friendship? 5) Do they live what they say they believe? Do they have the right “theys” in their lives?
You are going to have some wrong THEYS in your life, and you can’t weed them all out. Show them love, but don’t allow them to influence you!
Scriptures – Matthew 19:26 (NLT); Nehemiah 2:19-20 (NIV); Nehemiah 4:12,14 (NIV)
Verses – “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.” (Mt 19:26)
Questions – Do you have the right THEY in your life? Elaborate. Do you have any wrong THEY in your life? How do you keep negative influence from corrupting your purpose and mission? When have you listened to the wrong THEY? How did that turn out? When have you listened to the right THEY? How did that turn out?
Prayer – Gracious God, give me the wisdom and power to discern the right THEY from the wrong THEY. Keep me strong and focused on your purpose for my life. Help me to be the right THEY in the lives of those around me, that I may affirm your love and purpose in their lives. Thank you for the power of the Holy Spirit living in me! With You, I know that nothing is impossible! In Jesus’ Name I pray, amen.
