Jelly and Jam • Hard Fought Hallelujah – 3/1/26

“Hard Fought Hallelujah” by Brandon Lake and Jelly Roll calls us to pursue God in the midst of uncertainty, pain, and personal battles. It declares that resilient faith is developed when we choose to praise while broken, weary, and unsure. In times of trial praise does not come easily, but worship forged in the fire produces faith that is refined in the midst of the trials, like gold purified by flame. Worship is a mighty weapon, and through God’s grace, even our greatest trials can produce a hard-fought hallelujah.

Despite hurt, brokenness, and hopelessness, it is possible to overcome with God’s strength and power. Ecclesiastes 3:11 states: “God has made everything beautiful for its own time.”. The Creator who holds the universe together desires to take your pain and transform it into something beautiful. He is not looking for empty ritual, but for a genuine relationship, earnestly pursuing Him in faith.

Scripture says without faith it is impossible to please God, and according to your faith it will be done to you. Faith keeps you praying, praising, and believing when circumstances look hopeless. It is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. We think, “I’ll believe it when I see it.” But faith says, “You’ll see it when you believe it.” You may not see the answer yet, but faith allows you to envision a better day.

Faith is active. It moves forward in obedience even without all the details. Trials and tests strengthen faith, building character and endurance. As you trust God and step out, somewhere between here and there, God responds to your obedience with His power. Belief produces movement, and movement releases God’s power.

Faith requires you to let go of the familiar past to grasp the future God has for you. Like a trapeze artist, you cannot hold on to both bars—you must release one to reach the other. Faith takes time, but God is patient and works steadily, shaping your faith and character along the way. Whatever you are facing—debt, loss, fear, diagnosis, broken relationships—God is bigger. In His time and in His way, it can happen. Everything is possible for the one who believes.

Scriptures— Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NLT); Matthew 7:7 (NIV); Hebrews 11:6 (NIV); Matthew 9:29 (NRSVUE); 1 Peter 1:6-7 (NLT); Hebrews 1:11 (NIV) 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT); James 16-8 (NRSVUE); Ephesians 3:20 (GWT); Habakuk 2:3; Mark 9:23 (GNT)

Verses— Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. (Ec 3:11) And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hb 11:6) Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. (Hb 11:1) “Everything is possible for the person who has faith.” (GNT)

Questions— How have you seen trials strengthen—or challenge—your faith in a personal season of struggle? Where in your life are you tempted to wait for proof before trusting God? What might it look like to move forward in faith instead? What do you need to release from the past—an old hurt, habit, fear, or comfort—to fully step into God’s vision for your future?

Prayer— Father God, Thank You for being bigger than every battle I face. When I feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or weary, help me to worship and praise You no matter how difficult it may be. Strengthen my faith in the fire and help me to trust You even when I cannot see the way forward. I believe You are working—even now—turning my pain into something beautiful In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
