In 1965 the Byrds released a #1 hit song Turn! Turn! Turn! It echoed the words penned by Solomon 2500 years ago—for everything there is a season (Ec 3:1). Life is a journey through many seasons of life. There is a time to be born, and a time to die, a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to keep, and a time to throw away; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak. These are just a few of life’s seasons through which we try to find meaning. Each season holds it challenges and its lessons. Not only is it important to recognize the season in which we find ourselves, but also to know when it’s time to move on!

Verses
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: (Ec 3:1) Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. (Ec 3:11)

Thought
There is meaning and purpose to be found in every season of life. God wants to meet our needs and be our strength, our hope and our joy in each and every season. We should seek Him and ask of Him what it is that He wants to teach us as we pass through each of life’s seasons. God also wants us to keep moving forward. Some people get caught in a season and don’t or can’t move on. These seasons often involve sorrow, bitterness, and pain. God is available to help us forgive and let go so that we don’t get stuck in a difficult season. He will help us get through them and move on.

Take time for silence. Shut out the media overload; find a quiet place where you can clear your mind. Seek God’s guidance and discover what He wants to teach you in this season of life. Thank Him that growth and purpose can be found in each and every season. Be still and listen to God.

Lord, teach me your purpose and your plan for this season of my life. Help me to move forward with you as the guardian of my steps. Help me to grow and to serve you better as each new season comes my way. Thank you for your love and faithfulness. In Jesus holy name I pray, Amen.
