Walking Dead – Wanderers
Giving God the first day of the week is a great way to infuse your spirit., but, it’s only a start! As each day of the week wears on, the inspiration fades and the spirit weakens. It’s easy to begin to wander away from the word that was so empowering on Sunday. In order to move forward in your spiritual life, daily infusions of God’s word are needed. Through God’s word you can stop doing some things that need to stop and begin doing some things you need to do.
Scriptures
John 10:10; Galatians 5:19-21; 2 Timothy 4:3-4; Hebrews 4:12 (Read)
Verse
Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
Thought
Daily Bible reading keeps us anchored. God’s word not only convicts us of sin but also empowers us to do right each day. When we don’t stay grounded in the word our human tendency is to wander away from truth and begin to suit our own desires. (see Hebrews 3:3-4)
Questions
What do you need to stop doing? What do you need to start doing?
Response
Set aside time each day to read your Bible. It doesn’t have to be chapters at a time…read a few verses and spend time thinking about what God is saying. Spend a moment in quietness before God and allow him to speak to you through his word.
Prayer
Almighty God, thank you for giving me your word as a guide for my life. Help me to make time each day to read the Bible. Awaken your word in me so that I can receive the life and hope and power that only you can give! Make me strong through your word, in Jesus Name, I pray. Amen
